Francesco Trepiccione is currently associate professor of Nephrology at Università della Campania “L. Vanvitelli”. During Medical School he was fascinating by renal physiology and the molecular basis of kidney diseases. This was of big impact on his clinical and scientific career, encouraging him to spend few months at NIH in the laboratory of Kidney and Electrolyte Metabolism of NHLBI.
This was a crucial experience for his career pushing him to perform a PhD in Health Sicence at Aarhus University where he had a major in-depth on basic research. Balancing the interest in basic research with the never forgotten clinical nephrology was really demanding, but very stimulating.
On this line after becoming a nephrologist in Naples, he performed a post-doc at Hopital George-Pompidou, INSERM U970 in Paris, thanks to a long term fellowship from the ERA-EDTA. Currently he works as clinician at Policlinico of University of Campania “L. Vanvitelli” and he is in charge of the laboratory of Translational Nephrology at Biogem Research Institute. Spending time with young clinical and research fellows is a very good way to stop the mental clock and stay young longer.
Having a nice and beloved Lagotto Romagnolo always on the side is fundamental before starting any project.
