Evangelia Ntounousi is a 46 year-old Greek Nephrologist who has been a faculty member of School of Health Sciences of University of Ioannina since 2010. Currently, she is an Assistant Professor of Nephrology, Head of the Nephrology Department and a founding member of the Renal Transplant Unit at the University Hospital of Ioannina.
Dr Ntounousi graduated from Medical School of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1996, and was certificated as Specialist in Nephrology in 2004.
Her PhD entitled ‘“Oxidative Stress, Apoptosis and Cardiovascular Disease in Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease” was awarded in 2008 and her main research interests are risk factors of cardiovascular disease in chronic kidney disease patients and renal transplantation. She received a fellowship of the Hellenic Society of Nephrology and specialized in renal transplantation in UK. She is a member of the scientific board of the Hellenic Society of Nephrology for the last 3 years and member of international medical societies.
She is married and a mother of a beautiful baby boy! She dedicates her free time to her family. She is a skipper and in summer time she enjoys sailing together with her family to the sun-bleached Greek islands.
