Ana Carina Ferreira is a 39 year-old Portuguese nephrologist and mother of three, who works at the Nephrology Department of Hospital Curry Cabral since 2005, currently as head of the Peritoneal Dialysis Unit; in Nephrocare Alverca, a outpatient dialysis clinic; and in Nova Medical School where she is also involved in teaching medical students, and has on-going research on the effect of kidney transplant in CKD-MBD.
Dr. Ferreira obtained the degree in Medicine in 2003, at Nova Medical School, and was certificated as Specialist in Nephrology in 2012. In 2017 she got the European Certificate in Nephrology, by the UEMS – renal section. She is a member of national and international medical societies, and is a founding member of the Young Nephrologists’ Platform of the ERA-EDTA, having been its chairperson from 2015 to 2017.
In her free time, which is lacking due to her 3 beautiful but time-demanding children, she likes to travel, watch movies and enjoy the beach.
