ERA-EDTA announce the first Scientific and Educational Interaction Day (SEID) to be held on October 26, 2019 in Vienna (Austria).
The Scientific and Educational Interaction Day (SEID) is an exciting meeting which boasts educational lectures focused mainly on clinical issues, starting from diagnosis all the way to prevention and therapy. Sessions will focus on systemic diseases that affect the kidney (ANCA-associated vasculitis, lupus nephritis, anti-GBM disease), ethical aspects of using genetic results in clinical daily practice and its implications but also stimulating discussions on patients and nephrologists’ considerations on the choice among hemodialysis, peritoneal dialysis and transplantation, being the latter considered the best treatment option for ESKD, as well.
A consistent part of the meeting is devoted to vascular access which includes a practical session involving demonstrations of ultrasound scanning and fistula imaging on real patients. All participants will have a chance to practise imaging under the supervision and guidance of experts.
Do not miss the Satellite ‘New Drug’ Symposium which is preceding the SEID on October 25, 2019. This half-day symposium is designed to be a fully educational experience with some ‘industry focus’: key European speakers will contribute in the sessions providing updates on recent studies related to the treatment of anaemia, hyperkalaemia and diabetes in CKD.
Sessions will be available after the event as e-materials.
The SEID has multiple educational objectives. It gives you the chance to learn how to responsibly apply genetic testing; it provides updates of current approaches to the diagnosis and treatment of systemic diseases and shares data on ongoing studies and emerging treatment options. It discusses the possibilities to better predict patient survival depending on recipient characteristics (comorbidities) as well as donor quality scores (such as KDRI). All of this in one single event!
