Visa information

How to obtain a visa to enter Germany and what do you need?

EU nationals do not require a visa to enter the Federal Republic of Germany.
All others require a visa to enter Germany. A visa is not required for visits of up to 90 days in an 180‑day period for nationals of those countries for which the European Community has abolished the visa requirement.

Persons requiring a visa to enter Germany should submit their applications well in advance.

Applicants must submit visa applications, together with all necessary documents, in person at the German embassy in the country where they reside. Applicants should consult the website of the German embassy well in advance of their departure date to know the visa procedure and all required documentation that has to be submitted.

Please check the Federal Foreign Office for an overview of the visa regulations. Please read carefully the visa application information available on the website of your German embassy!
