![]() The ERA-EDTA announces the first Scientific and Educational Interaction Day (SEID)
The first Scientific and Educational Interaction Day will be held on October 26, 2019 in Vienna (Austria). This event is designed to be a day of succinct sessions focusing on clinical issues related to systemic diseases which affect the kidney (from prevention to diagnosis). Part of the meeting is devoted to vascular access including a practical session involving demonstrations of ultrasound scanning and fistula imaging on real patients. Participants will have a chance to practise imaging under the supervision and guidance of experts. Do not miss the Satellite ‘New Drugs in Kidney Disease’ which is preceding the SEID on October 25. In this half-day symposium key European speakers will contribute in the sessions providing updates on recent studies related to the treatment of anaemia, hyperkalaemia and diabetes in CKD. To facilitate the participation of young ERA-EDTA members (cat. A and B) the ERA-EDTA offers up to EUR 30,000.00 in Travel Grants.

Nephrology and Public Policy Committee (NPPC) aims to intensify research activity Epidemiological and clinical research and public policy in Europe are generally considered to be comprehensive and successful –and the European Renal Association-European Dialysis and Transplant Association (ERA-EDTA) is playing a key role in the field of nephrology research. But, of course, there is room for improvement. Therefore, the Nephrology and Public Policy Committee (NPPC) has been formed to strengthen the basis for a stronger research focus. Now, the NPPC has presented a five-year research plan to stimulate research collaboration in Europe.

New Ordinary Council Members (2019-2022) The ballot elected 2 new members (Mario Gennaro Cozzolino and Ronald Gasevoort) out of six candidates who submitted their intentions to serve as members of the Council for the next three years (2019-2022).
Ex-officio members ratified by the General Assembly in Budapest, Hungary
The ERA-EDTA Council at its last meeting (February 21-23, 2019) nominated the three ex-officio officers whose term will begin in 2020 (Christoph Wanner, ERA-EDTA President Elect, Ivan Rychlik, ERA-EDTA Secretary Treasurer, Denis Fouque, NDT Editor-in-Chief). They have been ratified at the General Assembly in Budapest.
