Summary Reports from 55th ERA-EDTA Congress From the RNA world to the clinic: RNAs as drugs and drug targets Presented by Bruce A. Sullenger ![]() During the past 25 years, the idea of using RNA molecules as therapeutic agents has evolved from a concept into a clinical reality. Continuous renal replacement therapy Presented by Esteban Poch ![]() Acute kidney injury (AKI) requiring a renal-replacement (RRT) therapy affects more than 13% of intensive care units (ICU) patients. During the past decade, the incidence of RRT-requiring AKI almost doubled worldwide and the mortality of the patients remained as high as 50%. The most common modalities are continuous RRT (CRRT) (75.2%), followed by intermittent hemodialysis (IHD) (24.1%) and peritoneal dialysis (0.7%).
