![]() Survey of the IDON-Study on Nutritional Practice in non-dialysis CKD patients
The ERN Working Group has launched a Survey aimed at identifying the clinical priorities in Nutritional Practice for non-dialysis chronic kidney disease (CKD) patients by gathering views from different Stakeholders involved in CKD care (Nephrologists, Nutritionists, Dietitians, Nurses and Patients). We invite you to actively participate in this Survey that should take no more than 20 minutes. The Survey is available in several languages (English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Italian). We appreciate if you could share this link with all of your professional contacts and any national and international scientific and/or patients’ associations involved in CKD care you are currently in contact with.
Differences in the complexity of patients seen by different types of physicians
In the population-based cohort study of 2.5 million Canadian adults, there were substantial differences in markers of complexity for patients seen by different types of physicians, including medical subspecialists. Patients seen by nephrologists were the most complex patients with higher comorbidities, prescribed medication, rate of death, and highest rate of placement in a long-term care facility.

Emerging evidence of an effect of salt on innate and adaptive immunity
High salt intake promotes hypertension, impedes the efficacy of RAAS-inhibitors and increases the risk of adverse cardio-renal outcome. Recent studies have addressed the impact of salt intake on the immune system with potential implications for patients with CKD and kidney transplant recipients. ![]() The Clinical Transplantation Day (CTDay) 2018 Webcast is now published on ENP!
The CTDay 2018 was a successful educational event on Kidney and Liver Transplantation that took place on November 30, 2018 in Barcelona (Spain) and was endorsed by the ERA-EDTA and Descartes Working Group, the ESOT and EKITA Working Group. The course was aimed at “Understanding humoral mechanism of damage in transplantation: from the cell to the clinic”. The webcast and slide presentations (in PDF format) shown at CTDay 2018 are now available on ENP for all registered users.

![]() EKHA Programme on transplantation will be hosted on the EU Commission’s Health Policy Platform
The EKHA project “Improving Organ Donation and Transplantation in the EU” will be launched on the European Commission’s Health Policy Platform in 2019, an interactive tool to boost discussions about public health concerns and to share knowledge and best practices. Thus, transplantation, especially kidney transplantation and the lack of organs in the EU, will be the focus of European healthcare discussions in 2019. As Professor Carmine Zoccali, President of the ERA-EDTA explains : “We hope that this builds bridges between the different policy areas and that we can achieve a sustainable improvement for patients on the waiting list”.
