The ERA-EDTA Working Group on Inherited Kidney Diseases (WGIKD) and ERKNet, the European Reference Network for Rare Kidney Diseases, are pleased to present Rare Kidney Disease Webinars, an educational initiative that is freely accessible to all users. Reducing calcineurin inhibitor first for treating BK polyomavirus replication after kidney transplantation: long-term outcomes
BK polyomavirus-associated nephropathy is a major challenge after kidney transplantation. In the absence of specific antiviral therapies targeting BK viraemia, current strategies aim at reducing maintenance of immunosuppression. Whether antimetabolite drugs or calcineurin inhibitors (CNI) can be best lowered first remains unclear. Bischof et al. performed a cohort study addressing the efficacy and safety of a "CNI-first" approach. The paper is accessible free of charge until this Sunday at 23.59 (UK time). Do not miss it!
