|
The abstract site linked to this meeting (XLIV ERA-EDTA Congress) is now open (http://www.call4abstracts.com/era/). You can see from the graph that year on year more people are submitting abstracts to this increasingly important and valuable meeting. Carmine Zoccali as Chair of the Scientific Committee has worked very hard to deliver a rich and varied programme which should interest and educate the clinician and scientist alike. Let's see if we can win the Gold medal in 2007 (apt for this "Olympic" city) by having the most abstract submissions for any ERA-EDTA Congress.
There are some points this year - the changes I instituted last year with abstract sub-sections (see the "instructions to authors") will remain, as this was helpful. The increased guidance and examples for people for whom English is not their mother tongue, will also be available. Most importantly, while the scoring essentially remains unaltered, with many experts kindly and generously giving of their time to mark abstracts, there will be section editors for this meeting whose job it will be to search out abstracts that look particularly promising for oral presentation.
Let’s "go for broke" this time, and break all records! |

The Grant consists in a Diploma that is given to the winner during the Annual National Society's Meeting; three years of free ERA-EDTA membership (including free access to NDT Online) and a free ERA-EDTA Congress registration.
In 2006 the following persons were awarded:
1) Dr. Signe Hjorth (Denmark);
2) Dr. Teresa Arcidiacono (Italy);
3) Dr. Basol Canbakan (Turkey);
4) Dr. Larisa Prikhodina (Russia).

Meet the ERA-EDTA at the ASN Renal Week 2006 in San Diego (November 14-19, 2006)
In 2005 the ASN asked ERA-EDTA to do an ASN Highlights in Europe at the annual ERA-EDTA Congress and the ERA-EDTA decided to organize a similar event, called “ERA-EDTA Highlights” in a mutual exchange with the overseas sister Society.
After the first ASN Highlights in Istanbul, in June 2005, the first ERA-EDTA Highlights were presented in Philadelphia during the 2005 ASN. The event was very successful, with more than 500 attendants, half from Europe and half from the US.
The programme for 2006 repeated the Highlights exchange between ERA-EDTA and ASN in Glasgow on July 15 and now in San Diego on November 17. Four prominent European speakers will present the most recent information regarding Glomerulonephritis, Chronic Kidney Disease, Dialysis and Transplantation (click here to view the complete programme).
So if you are planning to attend the ASN Meeting, don’t miss this opportunity to learn more about these most important topics.
As usual, ERA-EDTA will be represented in San Diego also by a booth in the exhibition. Come and visit us at the Booth 1343 to learn more about the next congress and other activities. The staff will also be available for accepting membership renewals and new membership applications. |
