EDUCATION

DESCARTES would like to draw your attention to the educational meeting on the following educational meetings to be held in 2018:

1. The next DESCARTES CME meeting, In collaboration with EKITA, the Organ Expert Section of ESOT on kidney transplantation in Europe will held at the 55th ERA-EDTA Congress at Bella Centre in Copenhagen (Denmark). Click here to access the programme planner and look for CME03 ‘Kidney transplantation: what are the challenges and opportunities ahead?’ scheduled May 24, 2018 at 08:45 - 12:00.

2. The second CME meeting on Kidney transplantation from bench to bedside 2018 to be held on October 12, 2018 at the Royal College of Physicians in Edinburgh (UK) and focusing on in-depth review of the most recent clinical trials in renal transplantation and discuss clinical applicability of the results.

3. The slides of the first meeting ‘How can I improve the outcomes of kidney transplantation in my center?’ that was held in October 13, 2017 in Antwerp (Belgium) are available here for DESCARTES and ERA-EDTA ordinary members.

4. The Clinical Transplantation Day 2017 was held in collaboration with DESCARTES and EKITA on December 6, 2017. Presentations given at this meeting are accessible here to DESCARTES and ERA-EDTA ordinary members.

INSTITUTIONAL

In 2017 the Board composition of DESCARTES was partially renewed.

As per the transitional norm (applicable starting from the 4th year of existence of all Working Groups) both Prof. Soren Schwartz Sorensen (Denmark) and Prof. Ondrej Viklicky (Czech Republic) stepped out from DESCARTES Board. The Working Groups thanks them both for their great contribution and dedication in the activities of the group.

Further to internal election, validated by ERA-EDTA Council, two new Board members joined the DESCARTES Board: Prof. Mehmet Sukru Sever (Turkey) and Dr. Geir Mjøen (Norway).
